Dream within Dream is a good example of the interest in the sounds of dream (drømmens klange), which fascinated Mogens Christensen a lot in the years around 1990. The universe of the dreams may be seen directly from the works with Sarvig texts, and from instrumental works like Dryadernes Drøm (Dream of the Dryads).
Dream within Dream has direct mutual material with the 1st Violin Concerto, Dreams within Dreams, the three violin soloes (Cadenza, El mar, las rosas y el sueño perdido and Dreamless Fragments) as well as with the cello solo El mar del tiempo perdido.
