Adagio as a musical denomination has grown solid in the meaning of slowly. Like with allego which, in Itailan nowadays, rather means cheerful and happy, than fast – adagio also has some additional meanings: cautious, silent, meticulate, hushed … And these are the qualities examined in this piece. Adagio has the subtitle of Hommage à Kurtag, where the meticulousness with the sound value and the meaning of the single tones are also in focus.
