Eternelle is, as the name more or less indicates, a perpetuum mobile – an eternity machine – with a constant stream of fast tones. The tone festoons stop here and there in order to present other ideas and facets of the organ. Contrary to the toccatas of the baroque era, this piece closes by looking at the world from quite another silent place.
… Orgelet er et toccata-instrument i værket Eternelle, der spiller forskellige registreringer ud mod hinanden med kontrasterende vegetative afsnit på svelleværket, og som på et tidspunkt gør vejen forbi det pompøse mixtur-forte.
